A three-part documentary series telling the story of the pilots of the Air Transport Auxillary, a WW2 air service staffed by volunteer women, veteran and disabled pilots who ferried fighting aircraft from factory to frontline. Although not involved in combat, ferrying could be dangerous work. Flying without radios or weapons, pilots often had to master the controls of unfamiliar aircraft they had never previously flown. Over 100 pilots died in the course of carrying out their duties succumbing to engine failure and poor weather. Some of the bravest and the best were the women pilots.
