A BEACON OF HOPE FOR WOMEN'S HEALTH & DIGNITY
I had the privilege of traveling to Somaliland to direct a short biographical film about Edna Adan Ismail. Edna is an extraordinary woman, a former nurse, mid-wife and diplomat who returned to her homeland of Somaliland after 30 years of civil war and built a hospital and later a university to improve the health and education of people in the horn of Africa. She has also become a leading global campaigner against the curse of FGM and continues to fight for the rights of women.

The film tells the story of Chaz Holliman a wind turbine engineer who lost part of his finger at work how it has had a big impact on his life and his ability to do his job. The film is part of the Energy Institute's SafetyOn campaign to highlight the high rates of hand injuries. The film helped win two awards including IPSO campaign of the year 2023.

A NATURAL REMEDY FOR WINTER BLUES
During the dark winter days, it was a real treat to produce two short natural history films featuring ornithologist and broadcaster, Ed Drewitt. Commissioned by crops for energy company, Biomass Connect. The films explore the wide diversity of winter birdlife which inhabits the company’s Willow and Miscanthus plantations on a beautifully frosty corner of Exmoor.

COUNTRYCIDE - A FAILED EXPERIMENT
Climate change and the destruction of soils and biodiversity present a clear and present danger to our future. Agriculture accounts for 25% of greenhouse gas emissions, so changing the way we farm could be one way to address climate change. I am filming a documentary fronted by 5 women farmers from Exmoor, who present the case for a low carbon, regenerative model of farming in the UK.

SHELL - HUB OF THE FUTURE
Flying cars and an imaginary robot was a key element in a film I recently directed to tell the story of Shell’s new integrated use of technology. Filmed in a green screen studio, this imaginative approach using a combination of live action and 2D animation to engage and bring tolife a rather dry subject.
